Essay Vocabulary Learning

Offset (v; n; adj) [n., adj. awf-set, of-; v. awf-set, of-]
Forms: --Definition: something that counterbalances, counteracts, or compensates for something else; compensating equivalent.Sentence:  So if we get some good publicity, maybe it will offset some of the bad publicity.In basketball, he offsets his small size by his speed.  

Conquered (v) [kong-ker]Forms: conquerable (adj)Definition: to acquire by force of arms; win in war; to conquer a foreign land. to overcome by force; subdue: to conquer an enemy.Sentence: The conquered had to render tribute to the conqueror
